the National Lottery [the National Lottery] BrE NAmE
(in Britain) a ↑lottery which raises money for the arts, sports, charities, the ↑National Heritage Memorial Fund, and other projects. The ↑lottery was introduced by the government in 1994. The National Lottery Commission is in charge of the lottery and was responsible for choosing ↑Camelot to run it.
